Spotted Hyenas live in what are called clans that number typically about 40 individuals, but in some cases up to 100. With lions, based on information from a 1992 National Geographic movie called Lions and Hyenas, Eternal Enemies, it takes 3 to 1 ratio of hyenas to overpower lions. So for instance 9 hyenas are more powerful than 3 lionesses. 8 hyenas are less powerful, in the same example. As for tigers, in India there are aggressive dogs called dholes, or Asian hunting dogs that have been seen killing tigers and bears. It boils down to strength in numbers. If the hyena clan heavily outnumbers a solitary animal like a tiger, then I would say yes, a tiger would be afraid of hyenas, hypothetically since they do not live on the same continent.

The only way to know that is to bring a hyena near a tiger. But i have a feeling it would be a good fight because lions are afraid of hyenas, and just so you know, hyenas have a bite force of a 1000 pounds, that is one of the strongest in the world.

Why should they be? They live on different continents, the hyena in Africa and the tiger in Asia.
