I think they are all equally as challenging, just in different ways. I teach elementary and bow down to those teachers that teach middle school. I don't think I could handle the age of the kids - the attitude, hormones, or the 150-180 students in your classes. I think I would also pull my hair out teaching high school when the kids don't care and hate school. I know many work very hard and are wonderful though. In the level I teach, elementary, the great majority of the kids are sponges that still love school and are eager to learn. While some have attitudes and need the extra push to do work, most are respectful and work hard. What's funny is that when I talk to middle and high school techers, they say they could never do my job!

I teach PE in the UK to 11-18yrs. I dont think any level of school is more difficult than the other, after all you have to plan for all your lessons, so sometimes research in an elementary subject could be just as challenging as in an A level subject. I think the key is what you prefer, as for me, enthusiasm is the key to teaching successfully. Like some people prefer teaching pre-school, others prefer high school etc, therefore i guess only you can answer that question, as its you who will be teaching it!!!!

They are all difficult. Elementary kids take a lot of energy and patience. You are going to be teaching them how to read and do math for the first time and you need to have excellent skills. For middle school kids, you have to be able to handle difficult discipline problems. High School kids require excellent teachers who can prepare them for college or life. No teaching job is easy.

It depends on the individual, their preferences, their personality, and their gifts and talents. I could never teach elementary school kids, they would drive me crazy. However, I teach high school kids with behavioral and emotional disorders. I put out "fires" all day long. My kids can get violent and verbally abusive. I have been told that I am crazy for doing what I do. I have been told by people who teach elementary school that they could never do my job.
Thank God for different personalities, talents, and gifts!

It depends on the area in which you live. There are many occupational hazards in the middle & highschools, as some teens don't get the guidance & direction they need at home & the school counselors are useless when it comes to assisting a parent if the teen has behavior issues, all they are good for is college preparation guidance, most communities "Tough Love" programs are a joke, & the state workers think they can raise your kid better than you, at a price.

I teach elementary and it's very hard. You can never sit down or turn your back. The students need supervision in EVERYTHING.
Plus you teach every subject, you only get 20 minutes or less for lunch, and the parents can drive you crazy!

I am certified to teach grades K-12. I have taught from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I do not think that one is harder than the other. The challenges are different. If you are trained and prepared to deal with the challenges then you can do it and it does not seem all that difficult at all.

I'd say elementary is hardest because those little tikes need constant supervision and help. You can't tell them to do this worksheet and then walk away to your own paperwork. Actually, each group has its issues, but I would say elementary is hardest. You also can't rationalize very well with a 5 year old!

teaching elementary! sounds easy but it requires a lot of patience to go to the children's level and teach them! then comes middle school and for high schol level, you need to be good in the subject basics!!
