When our expectations are not met we can become disillusioned. And we often expect that when we love it will be returned by the object of our love.
However, love is unconditional. You either love somebody or something because you choose too. If you stop loving because your conditions were not met, then you didn't love in the first place.
So I agree with you, you do or you don't. Peace.

It could be an emotional barrier...don't love too much--won't get hurt too much. Sounds like a negative attitude about relationships.

Getting hurt makes people not want to love too much. Unfortunately, just like you cannot choose who you fall in love with...you cannot choose how much you love. it's one of those hard-wired things that just happens....want or wish all you want, when it happens, you're stuck.
