Devotion can be to a cause, idea, organisation or ideal. But it usually means a subordinate relationship where the devotee cares more about the devoted. Love is a mutual thing where both parties care about the other equally.

love is...
multi-dimensional... you get different forms/kinds of love, love of a friend, a spouse, a parent, sibling, child, pet, money, luxury, food, all sort of things. Love is a powerful force. In a biblical sense (i say this cause i'm Christian and not trying to force my opinion but just to assert yet another way of looking at it) we are told that God is Love. So love is a powerful force without which our lives as human beings would be meaningless and purposeless.
Devotion or the act of being devoted is an attribute of love. you can be devoted to your job...that does not mean you necessarily love it, but you realize its important to keep the bills paid, or your new ferarri's instalments...
you can also be devoted to the klu klux klan...it doesnt mean though, that this cause is based on love, in fact, its based on hatred, or 'love' of 'your own kind only' which is conditional love.
Devotion, when coupled with love, is a good thing. Love can stand without devotion and still be good, but devotion without love is usually a sad thing.
Some people erroneously say they love wealth, or power or fast cars...thats not love, its avarice which they're trying to dress up as noble. Love in its true form, selfless and warm and caring, is where its at Pat...have yourself a nice Sunday further

For me to love someone it means I will devote my life to making them happy. I suppose that in my definition love will lead to being devoted to someone.

Love is- you enjoy eachother- go out, laugh, cry, give/get pleasure sexually....when life starts to get crazy, and you need them for support, you turn around and see they're there. . Devotion?... All of the above expcept...NOT having to look if they're there--- Devotion is "KNOWING" w/o a doubt- They've got your back!!!!!

Hmmm... Thanks to oxford dictionary, devoted means loving or loyal.... I guess that implies in all relationships btw family, frens, colleagues etc...

As for love, in my own definition and experience, it means wanting the other party, regardless of your family or spouse, to always be happy, and wanting things to turned out good... And when they are gone, a part of you feels incomplete or empty.... :)

Hope that helps... :)

'Love' (as it is generally used in our vocabulary) is an emotional response while devotion is a deliberate moral decision.
