hello.u can increase ur virtual memory by following,

To change the size of the virtual memory paging file
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from completing this procedure.

Open System in Control Panel.
On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.
Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.
Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, and type a new paging file size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set.
If you decrease the size of either the initial or maximum page file settings, you must restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. Increases typically do not require a restart.

Notes

To open System, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
To have Windows choose the best paging file size, click System managed size.
For best performance, do not set the initial size to less than the minimum recommended size under Total paging file size for all drives. The recommended size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system. Usually, you should leave the paging file at its recommended size, although you might increase its size if you routinely use programs that require a lot of memory.
To delete a paging file, set both initial size and maximum size to zero, or click No paging file. Microsoft strongly recommends that you do not disable or delete the paging file.

Temporary storage used by a computer to run programs that need more memory than it has. For example, programs could have access to 4 gigabytes of virtual memory on a computer's hard drive, even if the computer has only 32 megabytes of RAM. The program data that does not currently fit in the computer's memory is saved into paging files

virtual memory the space over the hard disk which is used when the RAM memory is full. Well, i had the same problem, i increased the virtual memory size by increasing the page size in the my computer properites.... but that didn't work ... the only way to solve this problem is to upgrade your RAM or insert a new RAM.

Windows today default to expand virtual memory on demand, so I am stumped how that happens other than the HD is near full. V Memory is an expanded area of your main memory to a part of hard drive. If there is a place to change it, it's in Control Panel - System.

It is Windows 3.1 that defaults to fixed size, I think.

Right click on my computer ->

Left click on Properties ->

Left Click Advanced tab ->

In the top section labelled Performance left click on Settings ->

Left Click on the Advanced Tab ->

At the bottom is the virtual memory settings. Left Click on Change and then click in the System Managed radio button.

Click OK on everything and you'll be asked to reboot. This will solve the problem.

Virtual memory is hard drive space that your computer uses as RAM when you don't have much actual RAM left. That's why virtual RAM is so slow.
