I don't think I'd consider them a punk band. They are this strange mix of genres that puts them in a class by themselves.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are considered a lot of genres of music including punk/funk/heavy metal/rap rock/alternative b/c they are so awesome and have so many varieties of songs that they aren't in one category. and I LOVE the Red Hots, i'm a huge fan, I love Tell me Baby, cute music video if you haven't seen it yet. I like all their stuff though, new and old.

back in the day they used to call themselves "punk/funk" but they've grown so much since their early days that I don't think they can easily be classified, other than just calling themselves a rock band.
yes, the Chili Peppers still rock after all these years!

i love the red hot chili peppers but they're not a punk band though... my favorite songs are 'scar tissue', 'dani california', 'otherside' and 'can't stop'. RHCP is actually my favorite band! the lead singer has such a beautiful voice and the band itself has a great sound!

they have like a punk/funk fusion going on, you know? like they got good rhythm, but they ain't trying to be smooth commercial, slick and refined.
