I had an unusual experience this morning. When my 3 year old son got out bed of and we started to head downstairs, he asked me to hold his hand. He is at the age where he normally wants to do everything himself, and usually wants to walk down by himself. However this morning at the top of the steps he asked me to hold his hand. I asked him "Doesn't Daddy's big boy want to hold the railing?" (which is how he normally goes down the stairs). He asked me again to hold his hand, actually slipping his hand into mine as he did, and we started down the steps. The third step from the top he tripped and tumbled straight forward. He has never tripped or slipped on these steps before. If I had not been holding his hand, he would have tumbled all the way to the bottom of the steps.

My questions is: could he have sensed that he was going to trip, even at his young age; and wanted to hold my hand for security, or was it just a coincidence?

Just to clarify, he is not hurt. Because I was holding his hand, I was able to catch him quickly. The only injury received was my heart skipping a few beats.

I think people, to an extent, can sense when a situation is not going to go well. I get bad feelings when driving in the rain, but there isn't always an accident on the way home.

If you think about it, your son was tired after waking up and even though he couldn't communicate he didn't think he could do it alone in words, he did by grabbing your hand. He's likely almost fallen before when he was tired and figured he might need some help. Think of how many times you've slipped a little. I know I have!

Also, it could be entirely coincidental. He may have just wanted to hold your hand and you were there to avoid a nasty spill down the steps. I don't feel it was anything psychic, but just your little boy knowing he was too tired to go down the stairs all alone.

Yes, I believe that Humans and certain animals can; such as Dogs or Horses. A lot of it is quiet awareness like the feeling you get walking down an alley or knowing that you just pulled into a bad neighborhood. But, I think that this is enhanced in certain animals, including Humans. Parents train themselves to see dangerous situations that may harm loved ones; especially children. Good Job! Dad.

Yes
I believe all people can develop their intuition,it's something that has been lost as we have progressed along our path. When the Indonesian tsunami hit the only living organisms that died were people the animals knew to go to higher ground. Ever notice when the sky turns green like before a tornado how quiet the insects, birds, etc are?How about when you feel someone watching you?
I believe it is a part of all of us and with practise can be heightened a sort of sixth sense

yes i think they can, my son one night started crying for our friends son. it was late and i told him that he would have to wait tell tomorrow it turns out that our friends husband was very drunk that night and tried hurting the little boy my son was crying for. i think he felt that his friend needed him. this has happened before with my son on different things. i was watching something on TV one day about psychic children, may son resembled alot of those kids, i then went to a couple sites to learn more. i don't know if my son is psychic but i am keeping my mind open to it and will try to help him any way that i can.
But it could have been as simple as that he felt dizzyy, maybe from an inner ear problem and just wanted help down the steps, but i think children are very intuitive little people and more open to things then adults.

here are the sites about special kids.

He might have sensed some biological weakness at that time like onset of numbness somewhere or it might be a real premonition. We can retrace this phenomenon to animals that is developed as a self-defense over the evolution period and kept themselves intact in the struggle for existence. We humans are losing the faculty faster because of our dependence on mechanical alerts and systems and our false sense of security and complacencies. Tribal people still have those acute sense of premonitions; reflected in some of them praying to myriad spirits, as extreme fear of unknown drives one to believe in occult. But who knows, it saves them from many real dangers.
All said and done, we too have the faculties to foresee and foretell only in acutely impending fatal dangers once in a way, either to our physical lives or our images in public life.

yes without a doubt that is why so many of us are still here on this planet. instincts rally through our 5 senses and then give off a result so the warning can come subtle or slow -we process information so rapidly we may not even know we are doing it the (un)- conscious -conscience part of us,-- it may make you hesitate or move quicker by second(s) just through contemplation of that assessment of "whatever" taking place at the subject at hand or not at hand as in the definition for "unforeseen" events…and just within ThaT the results of anything we do can be effected or affected..All in all most of us have a great built in human radio just gotta tune into it!

he may have been because i don't think that would be a coincidence if he asked you two times then i dont think that it was a coincidence he may have had a dream about it or he may have actually seen it coming.i really dont think it was a coincidence but you never know but i would say there is a %1 percent chance it was a coincidence.see if he does this any more and if he does then you might know that he can see things that may happen

Yes I believe people can sense impending danger and I think little ones are more in tune than us older ones so next time he wants u to do something I guess you won't be making any more comments about Daddy's big boy I hope your heart has recovered

Having experienced "drawing close threat" myself, and likewise being athletic and clever woman, I on the instant acted by attending to a brightly lite mall (i develop into being observed in my motor vehicle), and ran in and stated as the police - i develop into so disappointed with myself following all that, because of the fact by the time the police got here he had pulled out of the mall and right here i develop into 2-BLOCKS from the police station and found out that earlier they arrived. So sure, you act on the instant yet no longer continually sensibly...
