You can get metallic embroidery thread. Basic thread such as Anchor comes in 6 strands which you can separat into fewer if you want. Interesting textured threads/yarns are also available for embroidery or sometimes used in card making or scrapbooking.

You can also get metallic crochet thread.

i get mine on the market there is a stall with buttons and threads is there not one on the local market where you are but a bit of advice to you my machine will not sew all kinds and it snaps the thread the only one my machine gets on with is guttermans i also remembered that if you have the bedding shop called dunhelm near you they stock all types of thread

if u what to use the thread for cross stitch etc, i would say a good cross stitching shop, as they would sell a few differnt sorts of thread, or try your local craft shop, but if you cant find what you are after, i would try Ebay,

Google "sewing notions"...I know a place you can get them but it's in Seville, Spain! (A shop called Velasco, if you come here on holiday. They don't speak English, tho.)

Wal-Mart has it, also big craft stores like AC Moore. Beware though- it is a PAIN to use!

Try an Asian fabric shop, that's where I got mine from.
I don't know where you live but if you're anywhere near Bradford ( UK ) you could get it at Bombay Stores.
