No, the dead cannot be contacted. They are in a sleeplike state, awaiting the Resurrection from Jesus. The Bible says from dust we came, to dust we will return. Revelation says that Jesus will come to judge the living and the dead. He will awaken those in the grave when he returns to judge. Matthew and many many other books of the Bible talk about the Resurrection.
