Because democracy is a lie, perpetrated by the rich and powerful, to keep the masses in check with the belief they are in control of their own destinies. The interests of the rich will always be served before the will of the people - which is why governments very rarely fulfill their election time promises.

Don't confuse democracy with capitalism. Look around the world. The US, UK, France, and Israel have the best defense industries in the world.

War may bring suffering to a few, but research and engineering brings technological advance to the whole world. So the next time you get on an aircraft, log on to the Internet, use anything with nylon, Velcro, Kevlar (or pretty much any plastic for that matter) you can then stop up your bleeding heart and come to the realization you are benefiting from the spoils of war.

...and those of you going on about this rich poor thing, if it weren't for the wealthy, you'd all be poor, sitting in a poverty stricken village near a stream or pond contaminated with human waste.

There is a place for humanistic endeavor, and in reality it is required to keep capitalism in check but keep in mind what you're generally criticizing.

Have a good day.

People don't start wars - governments do. War is usually just governments failing to come to a reasonable compromise. Do you think the American soldiers in Iraq actually want to be there? Most likely they would rather be at home with their families.

B/c the current US gov is not really pro-democracy---they are a bunch of Neo-Cons.
All they want is oil and war contracts. Bush is making obscene amounts of money, as well as all his cronies...
