Also, when you vote on an answer, do you read all of them before you vote? Extra credit question: Have you been rating the answers and if so, are they usually a "good" or "bad" answer?

I think it's very rude not to select a best answer for a question you've posted provided there was at least one good answer.I just answered a question with alot of detail and scientific terminology only to later find that it had been posted in two categories and an answer that was almost the same as mine in the other category was selected as best and the one that I answered deleted by the asker. Why would someone delete an answer after getting an intelligent response to it rather than selecting that response as best?I do all of the things that you've mentioned.I have received some bad answers that I've rated poorly.Even if I don't select a good answer as best I still give it thumbs up.I agree with vb and have reported abuse and had nothing done about it even when it clearly violates the guidelines.See my most recent question as it is on this same subject.I also think it's lame to let the question go to a vote because too many people just go back and vote for their own.

I do. Unless the person answering the question is being a jerk, or the response is very long and irrelevant. I don't always read all the answers when I vote, I skim through them for the same reasons above. I give a thumbs up if it is a unusually good answer, and thumbs down if it is an unusually bad answer. For people who give insulting or irrelevant responses, there should be more of a penalty than thumbs down. Maybe if a person gets five thumbs down in a question the lose two points. There is always reporting for serious abuse, but there should be more of a penalty for people who type in something dumb just to get points.

If ever I am going to ask questions here of course I'll carefully read all the answers and then will pick the best answer...
In voting for an answer If an answer is closely related to my opinion or beliefs they'll have my vote...
I most of the time rate good answers... and sometimes rate some as bad...

I read each and every answer I receive. I don't rate them as good or bad because there aren't any bad answers. Only bad questions.

As for reading all the answers I get yes I do.
If people take the time to answer me then I take the time to read them all.
