how to prevent a beige short from being bleached?

i use detergent as per normal.. but no matter wat brand i use, my beige and other light colour clothes get bleached, though i didnt use bleach

Coloured items are always going to get a little lighter each time you wash them. You could switch to dry cleaning, which may not take the colour out as quickly.

When machine washing, however, all you can do is minimise the fading, by using

a) the coldest water that will still clean your clothes
b) the smallest amount of detergent that will still clean your clothes
c) the shortest wash cycle possible
d) air drying, instead of a machine dryer
