Do they really think that?
I can only think that someone that thinks they are beautiful/handsome and is less worthy of respect is because the believe in their own beauty more that their intelligence - therefore they are destroying themselves by vanity.
Intelligence, wit and amusement to not coincide with beauty. Maybe the reason is that intelligent and witty people are open faced - and an honest face is the most beautiful thing in the world!

This is called the Halo effect. People assume that beautiful people are smarter, etc. Not true. Also, everybody is worthy of respect. You have to teach people how to treat you. Have you ever met somebody who at first you thought wz homely, then after you got to know them, their great persoanlity, and their wittiness made the person become attractive? Have you ever noticed that people are both ugly and beautiful at the same time? It's about energy and attitude.

I think it's unconscious logic. Someone has a gift of beauty, why should they have another eg. kindness. People think these people have a better standard of living (they're right to a certain extent) so one person being less than graceful will not matter, however that's what everyone thinks, so it piles up a bit.

Because they are shallow minded people, but unfortunately there are some folk out there that are very arrogant, and think they are beautiful, but when you get to know them they become very ugly. I do however believe that doors open more easily for aesthetically beautiful people.It's sad but true, and beautiful people that are good people tend to get depressed due to other peoples ignorance and jealousy, towards them.

some where along the line, brain and beauty have been seperated, as exemplified by Beauty and the Geek. past experiences with a few more attractive people who use their physical appearences to get their way?

Well there were some people who were horribly conceited even though they were beautiful. There were also some who exemplified narcissism.
Those are the only reasons I can think of. Sorry.

Why do you assume they are more worthy I think regardless of physical appearance everyone deserves respect unless proved otherwise

less respect maybe because good looking people may tend to use their good looks to get over on people or situations

Don't hate them because they're beautiful? They get treated differently by the unbeautiful masses because they are treated differently than the unbeautiful masses. They get advantages over others simply by virtue of their appearance. They get promotions and raises and mates because of their appearance and not because they deserve or have earned these things.
