gen 1 (red/yellow/blue) and gen 2 (gold/silver/crystal) are compatible with each other, but cannot cross into gen 3 (ruby/sapphire/col/fire/leaf) or gen 4 (pearl/diamond)
so the answer to your question is no, you cannot make such trades

actually, i just realized the reason you can't trade from gen 1 and gen 2 to more recent games. the reason is because you can EV train up to 255 in each stat in the first two generations. however, from gen 3, you can only train 510 total, which is 1020 points less. therefore, a single creature from gold can be a LOT more powerful than the same exact creature in ...fire red

No, because the Pokemon from Gold/Silver/Crystal can be available when you trade with Pokemond Colosseum, LeafGreen, and/or FireRed. Also, the Official Player's Guide doesn't mention any trading between the two generations, but I'm sure that the Silver/Gold versions weren't designed with the Game Boy Advance in mind.
