um yeh thats where neanderthals come from, we all evolved from gorillas and monkeys supposedlt so I reckon someone along the lines from adam and eve and noah and family shagged a monkey/gorilla at some point and produced offspring

Because a gorilla is a different species. But what does this actually mean? In essence a species is defined by how many chromosomes there are in a gene - we have 46 (pairs of 23). While a gorilla has a different number.
When humans breed 23 of the chromosomes come from each parent - meaning you're half your mother half your father. However because gorillas have different chromosomes they can't pair up.
Which means that conceiving a child is impossible.

The first two answers are right but compare to Chimpanzees and Bonobos humans aren't as closely related to gorillas which means that a zygote formed between the two aren't viable. Also if a zygote made it to full term then the baby would likely be infertile like a mule.

Tigers and lions also make tigons depending on which way you breed them. I would have thought the DNA difference between human and gorilla would be too great to cross them. And why on earth would anyone want to????

Because the genetics are incompatible to produce viable (living) offspring. That, and the female gorilla would probably kill the man first - they are very, very strong in case you had forgotten.

Humans and gorillas are not of the same species, and you cannot breed outside of your own species.

We are not closely enough related to the great apes to interbreed, although there are persistent urban legends that this has occurred.
