Why is the show Malcom in the Middle, including the actors, always overlooked in the Emmy Awards. Is this not a funny and entertaining show???

G'day our3mca,

Thank you for your question.

Malcolm in the Middle was an an American situation comedy created by Linwood Boomer for the Fox Network.

The show starred Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, the third-oldest of four, later five, children in the family (hence the title of the show). The situation centered on Malcolm and his dysfunctional family's life.

The series was different from many others in that Malcolm broke the fourth wall and talked directly to the viewer, it was shot using a single camera, and it used neither a laugh track nor a live studio audience. Like most dramas, it was shot on film. As a midseason replacement, the show quickly gained a large viewerbase, starting off with ratings of 23 million for the debut episode and 26 million for the second episode in 2000. I suspect that the show was too innovative for the conservative voters at the Emmies. However, there have been several nominations:

* Jane Kaczmarek has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in every year Malcolm in the Middle has been broadcast. She has yet to win.
* Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston have received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.
* Malcolm in the Middle was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2001.
* Malcolm In The Middle won "Best International Comedy" at the 2003 British Comedy Awards, beating out favourites such as Friends, The Simpsons and South Park.

After successfully selling the show into syndication, FOX essentially gave the show a free pass during its seventh and final season. After moving to Fridays at 8:30 p.m. next to The Bernie Mac Show, Malcolm in the Middle averaged fewer than 3.5 million viewers a week, making it FOX's lowest-rated show. On Friday, January 13, 2006, FOX announced that the show would be moving to 7:00 on Sundays effective January 29, 2006. On Tuesday, January 17, 2006, FOX announced the end of the series, with the 151st and final episode airing at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT (the show's original timeslot) on May 14, 2006. The final episode aired in the United Kingdom on July 2, 2006.

I have attached some sources for your reference.

Regards

As a previous poster noted, Frankie Muniz (once) and Brian Cranston (twice) have both been nominated for Emmys, and Jane Kaczmarek has seven consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy. Tonight (August 27) is her last chance to win for her brilliant portrayal of Lois, and I hope she's finally given her due.

Cloris Leachman also has two Emmy wins for her rols as Grandma Ida on "Malcolm in the Middle," including one this year that made her the individual actor with the most prime-time Emmy Awards *ever* (eight).

The show notched one Best Comedy nomination early in its run, when ratings were high, but has been shut out in each of its other six seasons.

"Malcolm" is a very well-written, artfully directed and expertly-acted sitcom ... it's true measure of success is in its long run and continued success in reruns (where it remains among the Top 10 comedies in syndication).

Actually, Jane Kaczmarek (Mother on Malcolm) has had 3 or 4 Emmy Nominations, just for Malcolm. She also played the Mother in the movie 'Almost Famous'. She has been in many, many films and TV shows. As for the show Malcolm in the Middle, it is just not a blockbuster rated show.. Frankie Muniz has several movies under his belt, and 'Dewey' played by Eric Per Sullivan has been in many movies also including Cider House Rules, Armageddon, Christmas with the Kranks, etc. The show was an interesting disfunctional family concept, but never peaked to top ratings. (Jane Kaczmarek is up for another EMMY this week for Malcolm in the Middle.!!!)

The Daytime Emmy Awards sucked! Although I didn't watch either show, I felt like One Life to Live nor All My Children received a proper tribute. The Young and Restless (my favorite show) was completely snubbed expect for the actress who plays Lily (who is one of the weaker actresses on the show). Also, I hate that the show wasn't picked up by network television. HLN? Please! This broadcast was a slap in the face to the industry and its fans.

Well, I don't think Frankie Muniz can cope with the likes of Carrell, Shalhoub or Zach Braff who were nominated in the leading male comedy category, bt I do think Jane Kaczmarek (Lois in Malcolm In The Middle) is overlooked as her performance in the show is always the strong backbone of the show. Anyone can admit that.

They just had their last season I think. But it was an excellent show, the acting was great. The story line was always entertaining, and not to predictable. I think it was aired for about 6 or 7 years. I wish they would run one more season.

I love that show, maybe it's because you know Frankie Muniz and the others actors are young, they think it's meant for younger audiences, I have no idea, what I do know is it is so funny.(and I'm a critical person when it comes to comedy)

I don't like the show and it may be because there is nothing subtle or intelligent in it. It's just a cute, cozy show about a family. That's it.
