Rap has to be something more than just talk otherwise it's a melodic wasteland and doesn't qualify as music.
Nowadays the technology makes rap capable of qualifying as music but since I almost NEVER hear original music (grabbing loops of some artists' work doesn't COUNT) in Rap, I simply turn the channel. It's a cool use of technology but permits people to be creative technically rather than musically, so it belongs in a different field.
On the other hand....
Rock and Roll will never die.

Well, I hate Rap nothing but a bunch of potty mouth people and Rock as in today's Rock it ain't much better! I'll take Classic Rock any day, now that was music!
