I just do not understand why people are so rude to others. I am new to yahoo answers and I asked a ? about my cat and one comment said "Because you're a *****" I do not even know this person. Why do people feel that they have to be so rude to others? I would never say something so hurtful to someone else. Oh well, I was just wondering what others think of this?

A lot of people do it for attention, A lot do it because they fail in social skills.
I am rude to people here on occasion, but that is only when people are trying to start controversy or are being naive.

You know I have gotten that too. Most people are rude because they do not consider the other people feelings, some are rude because they only answer your question to get the 2 points, others are rude because they just want to be. Don't pay too much attention to it, the greater part of people here are excellent and give good answer. So just disregard the rude ones and listen to the others. If I thought everyone was rude here, I would not participate. but really you do have nice and caring people in this site. Keep on participating. You will see! !

I have found that a lot of the people who are really nasty on the internet are very timid and lonely in real life, and so take their anger out on the internet instead, where they don't have to face the consequences of their actions.
Hang on in there, as we're not all like that. I have met some really great people through the internet, and for every nasty little boy or girl (I'm referring to mental age) there are 10 helpful and generous ones. Just learn to block them out in your mind.
I hope you're cat is OK anyway, as I didn't see that question :) I like cats.

Most people who are rude are generally failures in life, and they have this need to take it out on someone in an anonymous fashion. They are people who don't have the guts to face you personally. Then you get others, like metorido, who apparently have a racist chip on their shoulder, and are rude to anyone not of their race. Strange world, but that's the way it is. Go well, and God Bless!

Because it gives something good to them like some sort of fun when they offended someone. On Yahoo answers, many people wouldn't care about how someone would feel because they are after earning two points no matter what kind of response they'd be giving for a question.

hey mystique! i hope you are in fine health. your question is why people feel the need to be so rude. well, the answer lies in your question itself. "feel" and "need".
no one can deny the fact that every single soul on this planet has a need to belong. people, whatsoever their socio-cultural or economic background, in todays fast-paced life, whereosever placed on the globe, are slowly but surely getting isolated from each other. this isolation starts eating them from within. remember you do not have to be alone to be lonely.
what happens next is that one starts getting a little self-centric in life. so when someone else comes up with a problem and seeks their attention, the first thing that goes through their minds is the deficit of attention for them and their problems. this feeling is very difficult to comeover, and hence, in an attempt to shake people off their mind, they act in haste which leads them to be rude.
"if someone is rude with you, plz. be polite and loving to them, they need all your love even if they do not accept it"

It is a sad state of affairs. People are rude online for many reasons, but it they all serve one purpose - it makes them feel better.
They can make a smart-*** comment which they think is funny in an environment which no-one can touch them.
It is pretty pathetic when you think about it, buit it is one of the drawbacks of the techological age.
I am sorry you had to experience it.

People are rude and hurtful for what reason I dont know.
Please dont feel upset because some people are like this, there are genuine people out there but there are also morons with agenda's.

It's a sad reality but you know why they do that? Because they can hide behind a computer screen, and feel all powerful after they get away with it... Isn't it just pathetic?
Don't worry about them, continue asking questions and ignore the cowards (coz you know in real life they wouldnt have the guts right?)

alot of people will give any old answer for the 2 points others come onto yahoo for giggles and laughs and don't care who they hurt they find it funny to do such till someone does the same to them
