What Iraq - - - give or take a decade and Iran will grab a chunk, the Kurds will declare their area to a Nation and break away, then Syria will take a chunk, if not all the rest, Kuwait will seize the rest. Many people will treat the name & history of Iraq as a bad disease and forge a new national identity out of what is left. Obviously the people are tired of being united under one flag one government, if Pluto can be demoted, then Iraq as a nation is dumpable. Peace.

Really tough question. No one and only certain answer.
The US may never leave, because of the oil, while claiming that it is really to support democracy in Iraq. In which case, you'll have a puppet government, a green zone that is safe, and total chaos, destruction, and civil war outside of it. The US will try to stay shielded and lying about the severity of that situation, and what it has created (the civil war) until it can't take it anymore. In other words, it will suck the oil benefits until the war spills over into that green zone. Once that happens, the Iraqis will probably either end up splitting the country into cantons or have another dictator to hold it together. It is in Israel's benefit to have all the Arab countries that are not sold to the US broken up into cantons. The civil war is not the fault of the Iraqis all, as ignorant people here comment. The US allowed the looting of all the arms caches. When it invaded Iraq, it should have made sure to secure those and to secure the civilian population. And there are peaceful educated Iraqis. They are leaving though. It is a bit like the situation in Palestine. If you can, you leave. And the poorer more fanatic people stay.
That's one sad scenario, but the only one I can think of.

Iraq was a principal part of the world, once. It can and will be again, this time it will be a nation worth visiting.

The youth of Iraq will force the country to modernize and, once the old gang has been toppled, the young of the country will spurt forward and astonish us.

There is a lot of promise for that country.

I think when its all over and done and all the others leave Iraq, there will be a powerful man come forth and take over the government. He will build palaces all over the place and kill anyone who gets in his way. He will accumulate billions of dollars of the peoples money for himself and his word will be absolute law. The Iraqi's seem to need this kind of leadership.

If we win in Iraq, the future of Iraq will be GREAT!
If we lose, millions will die in Iraq and elsewhere.
Terrorist States are just waiting to see what happens. If we lose, they will make their move.
We have traitors in our own country wanting to help the terrorists.

if the people in iraq stop following leaders like sadr who is a hate monger , controls mahdi army kills a million sunnis in the name of safety of shia , I think iraq has a bleak future not bcoz of USA ....but because it is a muslim country , look at darfur crisis of sudan where muslims kill muslim..look at iran and syria whose economic state is sliding from bad to worse, theocartic state like saudi and kuwait are doing only well because of oil which wont last forever. its simple a theocartic state can never be peacefull forever because theocratism like communisism is not based on best man wins principle but on religion and other favoritism.

probably a civil war that will lead to the death of most of the people there; Iraqi, American & the British
Iraq was much more better before Bush decided to invade it with no clear reasons, at least when Saddam ruled no hundreds of people where killed everyday as nowadays

If Iran and Syria, particularly Iran, would stay out of it, there is a duly elected government and a new army. Reconciliation of Sunnis and Shia can perhaps be accomplished, if we kill AlSadr.
