Wait until the last 20 seconds of the auction and then bid the maximum amount you're willing to bid. Usually, you'll outbid everyone and they won't be able to out bid you before it ends.

Be a sniper!!

Wait until there is 15 seconds to go then put in the highest bid you are willing to pay. This doesn't leave the current highest bidder any time to outbid you. Of course your highest bid must be more than theirs or you lose!!
