I met my husband through our work, but at the time we worked in different departments. Our relationship has been great, and we have been married for about 18 months. I just found out he has been transferred to my department, and I'm afraid that the two of us working so closely together will put a strain on our marriage. I've never minded working at the same company as my husband since we've always been seperate and only met up throughout the day for lunch. Anyone else have a similar situation out there? Any tips on how to not burn out from seeing eachother so much?? I love my husband to death, but this has got me a little nervous.

When you go to work, just focus on your work. You are not there to socialize. Don't go out of your way to make contact with him. Talk to him about it at home so you both know how you are feeling about being in the same department. I don't think it will be a problem. I just spent 6 months solid with my husband and it was great. Now he has gone back to work and I miss him.

Life is hard enough without having to be together 24/7. If you have no choice try to give each other some space. Definitly don't take work home with you. You might try to have an affair with him at work and try to keep the nature of your relationship secret. It is probably best for one of you to seek a transfer or new job.

How does your husband feel about it? My wife and I worked together for 12 years in a restaurant and I was the manager of that restaurant, we got along very well. Actually we enjoy working with one another. Does that make us weird?
You never know how it will work out unless you try it and see.
My wife is my best friend and I am hers, that is what makes it fun.

Where I work, it's not allowed to work for someone who you have a relationship with. The problem is, that things can get mixed up when communicating between work and your personal lives. Someone else might think of favoritism.

It is all in what you make of it. Being together 24x7 can put a strain on a relationship. To help alleviate this keep Friends and other co-workers involved in your work life and maintain other adult friendships with other couples outside of work

It's really bad if he's the boss but if you work at an equal level maybe it will work. You might want to tranfer though because neither one of you will have the space you need. You can't have sex and kiss at work so you go home and it's like you at work again. It sucks.

I worked with my husband for 18 years and had no problems with it. When we were on the job, he was the boss, and when we came home, I was the boss. It worked out fine for us.

many companies don't allow husbands and wives to work in the same department. this is for good reason. among the reasons are possible jealousy, possible slowdown in work, and fraternization. you may wish to discuss your concerns with a human resourses representative. my ex-wife once worked in my department, one in which i scheduled her assignments. it was bad news. good luck.
