personally my choice is ALICE COOPER..(seems like hes been around forever...but then its feels like i have too)...but then i grew up on his music..or Genesis..which is another..there you go..now you have started something...its up to the individual..but find enough fans and that particular band will become the greatest...

In my opinion, Aerosmith would have to be my answer. This is a group of guys out making music, and doing well, but the drugs and alcohol started destroying them, and they broke apart, then they go into rehab, they all stay clean and sober, and they make a comeback of which has not ever been seen before in rock and roll history. Their music got better, they mended the band, and stayed away from the alcohol and drugs, and started winning more awards, their comeback was better than they were when they begin, and then they were named the band of the millennium. Has any other Rock n Roll band, stayed clean and sober, became one of the hottest bands around, won more awards, and inductees of the RnR hall of fame, and won the Band of the millennium award. Is there any other band that even comes close to those accomplishments?
I admire and respect any person who has hit rock bottom, and struggled to get out of it, and then become a huge success, and has worked to help others, and cares about their fans, and put out kick *** rock n roll.
OK, I think I might I have rambled on here lol, but seriously, has any other band ever achieved that?

hands down, based on it being "the world" and what "the world" would consider to be the greatest rock band - the beatles. second would be the rolling stones. unless you're asking for a personal opinions:
mine: david bowie (he does everything!)
my husband: pink floyd... but they're not really a rock band and he does concede that issue

there are such countless diverse bands that can compete for that identify... on paper it stands out as the Beatles hands down... yet while your searching for purely a great band you will possibly throw out some names like Metallica, Aerosmith, weapons n' Roses, possibly even in all probability Nirvana(who's hardship-free with of the place they may be at present if kurt hadnt surpassed).. it surely relies upon on what you propose by utilising the main suitable rock band

That is a seriously tough question! Where do you start? Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Led Zep, The Beatles, ....

I would be seriously torn between these but if I had to take one album only on to a desert island it would be Led Zeppelin album, so I will have to say Led Zep!
