I am writting an essay on the 1918 Spring Offensive during World War One.

Does anybody have any websites that they like with information about the first world war?

Does anybody have any websites that gathers sources from that time period?

Does anybody know of any books which could be used for this essay?

I am currently compiling my sources: http://www.bobly.info/ if you want to see what I've currently got (should be complete by 14:00 GMT) or if you also could do with some of these sources.

Just got done reading a great book called 'The Devil's Disciples' by a man named Read and though the focus was on the men surrounding Hitler there was great analysis of the failure of The Spring Offensive of 1918 - - - - -- // try www.historynet.com and www.historychannel.com for two great sources, also WIkepedia is quite awesome, Good Luck - - - few people realize how close Germany came to winning World War One or at the least forcing a more favorable outcome. Truly her Generals failed their Country. Peace.

If you have never heard of this book ("All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque) before, you MUST check it out as what many consider the best book ever written on WWI. The author served in the German army during WWI and this novel is largely based on personal experience as it follows the lifes of a group of young German men before, during, and (I think) after the war. If you don't have time to read the book, the novel was transformed into a movie (it's an OLD black and white movie from like the 1930's) which I believe won Best Picture. Check out the links below for a summary of the novel/movie (beware of a couple pop-up adds). The story may not follow exactly the battles you are looking for (I don't know for sure as it more a fictional biography as a recording of history), but does offer an interesting perspective of the lifes of the average soldier (the cannon fodder) during the war; the story intends to leave you with a strong disgust/remorse of the war.

ps-the sparksnote link also has a message board to post questions on WWI and list other suggested books which may help you further.
