You always hear that you can't get addicted to cannabis. The THC which makes you feel high doesn't leave you with a physical craving. If this is the case why do stoners start panicing if they can't get a smoke?

yes, the addiction is mainly psychological. The stoners get all panicked when they can't have their fix and basically it's a withdrawal thing. Will it kill them to go without solely due to not getting the weed? NO.... Will they freak and fritz untill they can get high again? YES
I've seen long term potheads go ballistic when they are deprived over a day or so timeframe. Lots end up with other mental problems that I believe is brought on by their inability to cope without the drug. They are so used to having the drug in their system that they just can't hack the world without it-so they have panic attacks and/or end up looking for a fight.

Yes, you can get psychologically addicted to basically anything, from chocolate to regular cigarettes. In the case of cannabis the psychological addiction is the only one possible and it occurs mainly to those that use it as a wonder problem solving drug. The well known effects as exuberant joy and less caring about everything else can become VERY addictive, making you to want more and more, as a barrier in front of the problems that won`t go away nor solve themselves. Even in the case of stronger drugs, that give physical addiction, the psychological addiction is also a very serious matter. In all cases advised therapy is a must have as it never disappears by itself.

i have heard that if you smoke a lot of cannabis and you suffer from mild depression the cannabis can cause psychosis.basically, it sort of opens a kind of window in the mind that can heighten your feeling of depression etc and worsen it so it leads to psychosis.

also, most people who smoke weed mix it with tobacco - which is obviously highly addictive.

People could become addicted to the feeling they have when they smoke weed, such as being relaxed or almost in dream state. if its done regularly they may end up feeling that the only way to relax or cope with stress is to smoke some hash. So in this sense (and i have seen this happen) it becomes a psychological addiction not a physical one (smoking/heroin/alcohol are both psychological and physical)
This means cannabis is less harmful, but can cause problems for people who are already susceptible to depression or addiction.

You can be psychologically addicted to anything that causes a sensation. However drugs simulate the release of a neurotransmitter which creates a sensation so you can technically be addicted to anything which causes the release of those neurotransmitters. Its almost the same if you are addicted to morphine as addicted to dopamine. However mind altering drugs give you a chemical dependancy. Erm babbling now.... yes you can be addicted to anything that makes you feel something. You can be addicted to fear. And you can be chemically addicted to the tobbacco mixed with the marajuana resin apparently.

Who on earth told you that? It is a drug that can be addictive. Alot of people i know are....not all of the symptoms of being stoned are the same in each case. One of my ex flatmates needed to smoke cannabis to get out of bed everyday, and to have what we call a normal day.

They only think they need it. They're not addicted to it though. They're not goint to like kill anyone or sell their dog to get some. They don't think they need it to live or anything, they just like the feeling.
LOL, animal planet should do a documentary thingy on stoners and other drug users, like meth heads. That would be intersting.
