All I hear on satellite radio anymore are the same tracks repeated over and over again. No obscure or interesting tracks. All the same commercial garbage picked by the radio execs. So, essentially you're paying for 120-160 FM radio stations. Howard Stern is okay, but I don't think he'll be enough to keep Sirius afloat. How long before XM and Sirius merges or both file for bankruptcy?

I would agree that with Clear Channel originally tapped to program some of the music channels, and with commercials on a number of XM channels, that satradio will never come close to terrestrial radio. There's nothing different about it, and if you really want to control the music you hear, you'll listen to a CD, which has also been around a lot longer.

I listen to a lot of talk radio, and find the internet more helpful than OTA or sat radio. I use a site called Yakcasts (http://www.yakcasts.com), although there are a lot of them out there, that lists all the major talk shows and tells me all the stations around the country that stream the show at different times, so I can listen to Sean Hannity, say, at 3pm, 7pm, midnight, or 4am. The internet and OTA together I think will be the best combo going forward.

Satellite radios have to make money to stay afloat. They are burning cash.
They can do so by merging and cutting expenses or get many persons
like Howard Stern and other renowned broadcasters.

As far as how long before a merger, one can only guess. Satelite radio is going through the same problems cable TV did when it was new, namely, why should i pay for something that I can get for free.
