You can do both. You can start by helping your mother when she needs help and second by studying when the social activity is over. In most cases the atmosphere for learning will be not be that great with company and after things quiet down your mind will be at ease which to me at least would be a better time to absorb information. For example, I had company tonight, I had to put off the things I had planned. Sometimes your family is very important.

Help your mother on Saturday and study on Sunday....the information will be fresh in your mind come Monday and your mother will be pleased that she raised a child who is so considerate....everybody wins!

a fast help to my mom, and when the visitors arrive I would tell my excuse that I have to prepare 4 an exam so that they would notbe offended b/c I'm not with them..
if this won't work for you, you got the whole SUNDAY...

First,I think you should tell your mother you will have an important exam and you need time to prepare. You can help her after you finish your homework. a happy time may help you in your exam.
