Dublin is probably one of the best places to find work and socialise. Or Cork/Waterford - any of the bigger towns or cities. But Dublin is usually most expensive for accommodation. (and by the way, nost people are not mean to the non-irish!)
www.daft.ie is great to find accommodation

I lived and worked in Ireland myself. IT REALLY HELPS IF YOUR IRISH. If you are Irish they will take you in like you are family. You need to go there and not tell them you are looking for work. If you know someone there have them say they are putting you up for the summer. Find a job and tell them quietly on the side you are American. If you can convince them you have a skill they need they will hire you. If you are in the hospitality industry they will take you in because they can't find a lot of their own workers to do that kind of work. ...oh wait i just realized you are from the UK....Don't know what to tell you...you probably will blend in just fine...

No they not anti-English here another stereotype rubbish been told here. It depend on what kind of work your looking for? hotel work, teaching, computer work etc. Here is a few site for you: www.irishlinks.co.uk/ireland-jobs.htm

Yeah don't do it. The Irish hate the English living there.

Definitely don't tell them that you're English, they pretty much hate the English out there.
