there could be many reasons for that-
-->Overheating, if it reamains on for very very long times.
or it could also be some kind of conflict also try the following, see if it helps.
-->it could be the system settings that if any windows error will come it will restart, for removing it --
Right click on My Computer, select properties, go to the tab Advanced, then under Start up and recovery go to settings.
Here under System failure unchecked the check box which says automatically restart.
Apply, OK
if not then
try removing external devices attached one by one and see which device is getting conflicted.

hey man there could be another reason......which is i think is the most probable and noone has been able to think........
go to control panel and open power options and see whether you set something wrong in those boxes........coz i accidently did once and didnt know what is going on.....than i thought why the comp is getting restarted at just exactly the same time......so i figured it out
if this method fails than try to see if ur SMPS box is good coz this problem is seen coz of that also.......if that also fails then go for ur fan ,,,,and finally if that also fails ur system may be infected by a virus or some bad device drivers.......so reinstall windows.....

Computer worm hit win 2000 pro OS in the last few weeks.
Pull the case sides off and place a full size floor fan on the side with your CPU.
Water cool kit is the way to go.

Add a exhaust fan at the back of the case, inside. AFTER you check the speed of the CPU fan and PSU fan!
Then, put an inlet fan in the front, inside of case. And, get http://pclinuxos.com and run it. that will tell you if it is the OS, or the hardware.

try debugging your computer.... some virus scans ONLY scans viruses..... they can't resolve everything.....
my professor told me that if you encounter problems with your computer....
1st is to check the connections of every hardware
2nd is to check the software....
so if it's not with the hardware..... just debug it, it takes time but it's worth it.... also try to erase files which you dnt need, your computer may contain too much files that it does not continue anymore and just breakdown
