In his studies of human sexuality, Kinsey came up with a concept that is somewhat accepted today, although the percentages are in dispute. He set out the idea that sexuality is a continuum that runs from 100% gay to 100% straight. He thought that a small group, maybe 6 to 10% were totally gay, and a slightly larger group, say 12 to 15% were totally straight. The remaining people could be found along the line as mostly gay, or mostly straight, and a few were really clustered around the middle and could be called truly bisexual.
Now with that concept in mind, someone with tendancies, could exercise them at one point in life, and exercise other tendancies at another point in life. For those who surf the middle ground, the situation around them largely affects which way the swim.

If by gay you mean fully homosexual and completely uninterested in women, rather than bisexual -- then yes, once gay, always gay.
That doesn't mean that they can't be in or go back in the closet. Stuggle to act straight. Pretend to be straight. Even marry poor unaware women. All those things can happen -- but they will still be gay.
Gay isn't what you do, its what you WANT. If you want men not women, that will never, ever go away. It is what is natural to you.
Kind regards,
Reyn

To Home Buddy -- there ALWAYS were lots of gay men living with "families of their own." It is NOT a miracle, it is called the closet, its where some gay men, because they hate and fear themselves, particularly with a little extremist religion to help them along from people like y ou, hide. Believe me, when they are putting it in their wife, in their fantasies, where it counts, they are putting it in a guy, or playing with his d**k. People have done this for all time, having men on the side, when they can --- its sad and pathetic -- but people like you force it on those with weak wills and fear. AT least have the courtesy to be honest about it.

I have discovered this in the answerers...Home buddy is a blooming idiot.
the answer is NO. to some degree. IT depends on what you call gay. Ask any prisoner who gets out of the slammer...he has been going to it with guys for considerable time, yet he heads "straight off" to women when he is out...he was never gay, but had sex with men...big deal. If a guy is gay, he can certainly have sex with women, but prefers men. IF a guy is straight, he can certainly have sex with men, but prefers women. I thought we were a little more enlightened in this day and age, but from the answers I see here, it is back to the dark ages for many. And, perhaps these people will stay in the dark ages, as in locked in their basements with the lights all off.
And, there are many Gays who want something else from life as they grow...some are willing to forego their own desires for preferred sex to have a family, be a dad, etc. and will marry and be ok. The reverse is obviously true also..Good luck

It was for me. I've been attracted to females since I was way young. Then I tried to be straight, decided I was going to be bi instead of a total lesbian, but it didn't work out like that. So, for me, I was attracted to females when I was younger, preferred women when I was trying to claim bi, and still love women.

Take a survey or find the results of a survey that was conducted by an objective pollster.
Do you really expect to get a definitive answer to your question here?
It won't happen.

In general yes. Sometimes people could just be bi, but if you have sexwith the same sex, it'll be a tendency all your life.

You're either Gay or you're not...
You're either straight or you're not.
I do not believe in phases. That is just a lousy excuse to experiment.

According to society, the guy is gay, and the woman is still straight.
