I guess it's part of human nature.

Since people are visual "creatures", our brain processes first what we see... sense of sight, then smell, I forgot the pattern but it's like that. So no matter how some people say they do not "judge" other peole like in your questiion, deep, deep down inside, visually, they are affected in different aspects. It's not just about "judging", it could also be other terms.. =)

When it comes to trends, the things I said are some of the factors why people follow trends. If some people chose to be different (in the sense of fashion) in how to impose themselves, maybe they just don't want to look too common amongst the crowd. It also depends on what they want to tell other people--visually.

The clothing you choose is one the ways you communicate to the world who you are. So of course we should judge a person by the clothes they wear.

We also need to make judgments all the time based on how they look to stay safe. In that context you would call it "street smarts"

Does this mean that we can miss judge people because of this ? Sure! But we all do this and it is not automatically a bad thing as some would suggest.

Not on purpose, but I think everyone does to some degree. I think people should dress however they feel comfortable and not go with the crowd I think it's human nature though, at least in this society, to associate some types of dress with certain personality traits. Like if someone is dressed with very revealing clothing, you wouldn't think that person was conservative. That's a stereotype of someone who is "easy." And vice versa. Of course, that's doesn't make it true, but I think that's what most people would tend to think upon first impression.

MmMm people that judge others on the way they dress ARE JERKS> anyways but i think everyone has at one point or another ... :\ unfortunetly we live in a society that if you wear the right stuff you're " COOL" but yea.. some people need to wear the trends because they can't really identify who they really are... so they have to dress like certain people...people that follow the trends are also likely to have a sucky pesonality so they need to cover it with cool clothes.. MmMmM not all but some. Blah blah blah. :D SkINNies pants are back! lol.

Of course, we all do, but the trick is ignoring what thoughts your mind siezes upon, and excepting, that stereotypes suck...

I often throw clothes on without checking what they are.. people often say things to me, which i dont understand, and point at my t-shirt, i have to tell them that i buy my clothes in charith shops, and dont check what i put on, as i have no interest in looking good, or being fashionable, i just dont want to get arrested for being nude, or be cold....

I specifically like girls that dress differently and dont conform, i mean, its a great place to start a relationship, hi, i thought i would offer to by you a drink, because you look STANDARD.. i mean what an insult would that be....... GOTH/PUNK/PRINCESS/SLUTTY any of that rocks.

yes i think i do, but not treat them according to my judgement... but most of the time it's not a judgement it's an impression or an idea u make abt the person from the way they dress..

for example, if a girl with a pretty face dresses sexy, it is more likely that some men will think that she is up to something and she is dressing to get some attraction... same girl dresses more decently and it is less likely that those men will think of her in that way..she might be even unnoticed...

No, being a bartender in a small bar by the highway taught me that people in all shapes, sizes, fashons, and looks can be the best or worst people.

everyone does to some extent. they may not want to admit it but the only way person can not have some sort of reaction in seeing what someone else is wearing is not seeing it (the blind for example)

No. But most of the time, you could tell their personality/character based on their clothes preference.
