Is it just me, or are some of the ads on tv so stupid (or them thinking we are stupid) that it puts you off buying the product, or ads about personal hygiene when you are eating?

Couldnt agree more. Some of the ads make me think I should have gone into advertising myself - I could do better in 5 minutes. Mind you, some can be very clever or very funny! and what about the dubbed ones where you know that they're not saying the words you can hear? It really puts me off buying if they're happy to insult my intelligence.

Of course, it can be argued that eating while watching telly is the 'right' of the socio-economic C2DE's - in the UK - but we all tend to do it nowadays (now and then). Remember coming home with a Chinese classic a few weeks ago...szechuan dumplings and duck, with all the trimmings. Sat down to watch the start of an Eastwood movie with mouth full of rice and brought it up after seeing an ad. for cream to ease vagina (...hey -but it was Channel 4). Needless to say, have never had a Chinese since!

Whether you hate the ads and think they are stupid or not the brand name or products often sink into our heads so when people go shopping they recognise the brand and the product and buy it...its just about putting the name into peoples heads...

Yeah, adverts are extremely irritating and do put people off buying the product. And why do they always have a tendency to shout? We're not all deaf!

Definitely, its disgusting and annoying, I think the companies think we're all stupid or that they can shock us into buying products whereas actually we associate their products with their gross adverts and get something else!

I totally agree with you. I am much more likely to boycott a product because of bad ads than to buy one because of good ones. So no Herbal Essences shampoo for me!

Couldn`t agree more with you, can`t stand adverts on tv. Although, they do keep the price of the tv licence down.

i think adverts do put you off buying it because they show stupid stuff.
