I was just given a verbal warning at work that I am not meeting my stats. I just wonder if anyone out there has had any experience with this sort of thing and if they have been fired or what has happened in the case where this has gone on. Thanks for any input you can give!

Yes, my job that's all they talk about...productivity, productivity, productivity..... I don't know of anyone that was fired for it, though. You should have a meeting with your boss and ask them for tips on what you can do to improve. A meeting like that will tell them that you're open to suggestions and that you're serious about your job and want to do a good job and want to improve, etc. It'll look good on you.

If your company is like mine, (production very important to them), then Yes, they can fire you for it. They've taken the first step with the verbal warning.
At my job it's, the verbal warning, then on the second offense they 'counsel' you, (Boss takes you into office and talks to you about job performance), then comes the first write up, then the second, and with the third you get 3 day suspension. If another infraction occurs, then it's termination.
Of course this does not apply to every employer, it varies, but that's our basic ground rules. And they have a disclaimer at the end of the employee handbook that states; "Rules are subject to change without notice." Which allows them to fire on the spot for whatever reason they think they have.
Just another lovely day in paradise.
