The reason is that if we need to keep our environment clean and fresh. The biggest polluter today is the vehicle especially the car and the motocycle. the fumes of the old car are the main cause of the air quality, which can make people feel ill and have difficulty breathing. so to prevent our environment from the pollution we should do like this to reduce the destruction of the air. more and more, saving energy and gas are the main topic. the price of the oil rise very sharply and the oil will lose from our earth once day. we really should take much more intention about this problem. one more thing is about the traffic. Do u know? in china, japan or korea, the traffic is so stuck. we will stuck in the traffic for one or two hours if we go by our own car. these are all the reason why they do like this. hope you can understand it and please attend to save our environment. you're so excellent to be concerned with this problem. I hope you can understand more about our environment

There are many things against public transport, unfortunately. Think of the time it consumes; its unwieldy nature. That it doesn't work for many of the jobs that are represented in its locality's economy, or for rural places where it's barely represented at all. We have a great structure set up for vehicles, but yet another problem is that we don't have one for alternative vehicles, which makes their use harder to adapt to. And then, our economy is built on this structure that is already in place. How is a painter supposed to pick up his mates and haul his sprayer, go to Home Depot in a hour and back, etc? There are so many things...

If we had a system that would meet more people's needs and if we built our towns around that, we'd be on the way to what you perhaps allude.

You can get more people into the same road space in public transport than you can in private cars. example
a double decker bus can carry 90 people, how much room would 90 cars take?
public transport reduces congestion and would therefore cut total travel time

Energy savings. It takes a lot less fuel to transport a busload of yokels than for each of them to drive theur own cars.
BTW.. it takes a lot more energy to produce a pound of meat than it does to produce a pound of grain.
