In my state, Oklahoma, it is 14, but helmets are required until age 18.

Depends on where you are. In the US it varies state to state, in some states even city to city. In California, the age rules are the same as for an automobile.

laws regarding scooters & mopeds vary state to state however mopeds are ussually exempt a true moped has to have pedals like a bike they are classified as motor assisted bicycle
