i cant speak for all builders, but my houses r built one at a time and never had a problem other than a switch or something small like that as a problem......but we live in a 130 mph zone and the inspectors here really look for things......i agree that many of the contractors worry more about how many they can build rather than quality.....i was trained in "ole school" building, we need to go back to basics

All builders build different qualities of homes.
The minimum standards are much higher now than in the past.
Of course there is still crap out there.
Insulation, windows, plumbing, mechanical, electrical is generally FAR superior to the stuff in the past.
The final finish, trim and appearance, as well as lot sizing may not be as good.
A house in the 1960's would have 7-12 circuits for the entire house. Now 35-75 is commonplace.

IMO new builds aren't worth it. It seems like the developers try to cram as many houses into a small space and they alll look the same!
I think we should step towards a more modern style of building, inputting more individuality to each home.
If we can afford it, we're going to have our own house built.

all new houses are built to a price which will reflect in the finish and quality of fittings used.
David Maclean homes seem to be better than Barrat for example but whoever you buy from go round the house with a fine tooth comb and make a big list of everything your not happy with.

Don't buy new-build, the construction regulations are higher than older houses but they are just thrown together. Buy a house that is at least 10 years old, the structure has "settled in" by then.

The house was six months late, and we were not allowed on site to view the property plot until completion.
