Well It depends really, if your an a desert island and there is not shops or people or anything but you sand and a load of trees and the ocean for company. The I would suggest keeping it, burn it only for a last resort.

Put it in a bottle.
(everyone has at least one bottle on a deserted island)
but anyway,
put it in a bottle with a note.
The note should read:
"To the finder, Keep this money.
If you come to see me, I will tell you where you can find 100 Times that amount"
Then, when they come to get you, take the ride back to civilization first, then tell them, "in a bank".
You will be off the island, the finder will have at least something for his trouble,
and you will get rich writing a book!

save it to buy yourself (if needed) onto a passing by boat _(how you get the attention of the boat is up to you... it would be to small and useless to burn...)
