compassion was some how rooted in religion (fear of accountability in the after life) and family values. as both these institutions are on a decline, religion because of progress in sceince and belief in evolutionism, family because of switch from agricultural to industrial economy, so we are in an inter-regnum phase. there is a need to redefine values on the basis of truth and accountability in this world.
