I've been thinking about it too. I wanted really much to see Chelsea and Milan in the same Champions League group cause I wanted to see his reaction, but that wasn't possible. In my heart I do believe that he will play against Milan but he won't be able to score a goal towards his ex-team .The team who treated him as a king, who gave him the captaincy, in which he became great and won everything Golden Ball included. If he ever loved Milan he won't be able to score. That's what I believe in my heart, I'm not so sure in my mind.

I personally think that Shevchenko made the right move for his own career by moving to Chelsea. He had achieved everything he could have at AC Milan, and moving to England, where football is played at a higher tempo, faster pace, and is generally more attacking than the Italian league, Shevchenko needed to test himself against the Premiership's most reliable artillery,Thierry Henry.
Although there was controversy regarding the shirt-kissing incident, I think the Milan fans will show him respect with a standing ovation. After all, he was their most dangerous striker for 7 years and never once uptil then had he given the club or the fans any reason to dislike him. Although Milan fans may be disappointed with his transfer, they will still have respect for Shevchenko and cheer him when he arrives on the pitch.
Shevchenko on the other hand will have a soft-corner for his old team, but being a professional, he will move on and do everything in his power to help Chelsea get past the determined Milan defense and will accept the crowd reaction, whether positive or negative.

"Sheva back to AC Milan on a 12-month loan final night, 2 years after growing to be to be a member of Chelsea for a British checklist £30.8m." the sunlight says. explanation why he returns is using the fact he has under no circumstances ideal chelseas play. yet he's suited for milan! wish i helped =]

I think that Shevchenko would destroy AC Milan. Then the italian newspapers would critisice Milan for selling away the "ukarian warhead"

Of course he will do his best because he's a professional but I think if he scores he will not show great celebration respecting the feelings of his old fans..!

He has to play in that match. He can't refuse to play.
He himself agreed for the deal & he said he was moving to win some more titles.
That explains it.
