Can a U.S born citizen move to Japan get a citizenship serve in the Japanese self defense force or have a seat in the diet?

Yes, it can be done. There have been a few foreign-born members of the Diet and I think one still holds office from Finland. (don't quote me on the country).

It's a looooooooong and arduous road to Japanese citizenship my friend. Very difficult and invasive. Not at all like getting American citizenship.

Read the constitution... It might be technically possible seeing as they translated Subjects of the Heavenly Emperor into The People.
You can definately serve in the self defense force... I had an American and an Australian in my unit during national service in Finland... However, you can only be enlisted in one army, so you can't have been through any other military (should be obvious).

If you are of japanese descent (that means both your parents are japanese) then maybe. First, you will have to give up your U.S. citizenship though I believe.

yes but if the law states on how many years you've lived in Japan, that's the only time you can join a self-defense force...

Not unless the citizen takes out Japanese nationality and even then it would be an uphill struggle, but it can be done.

They already have a sufficient number of bulimics in Japan, why would they serve diet?
