Toners and astringents are traditionally used to remove excess cleansers from the face, and more importantly, to close the pores after a cleansing treatment. Commercial products are usually alcohol based, some even contain acetone (nail polish remover) and are very drying to the skin. This all natural toner is alcohol and acetone free. Because they contain more water, toners are gentler than astringents and are better for dry skin. Astringents are stronger so that they can remove more bacteria. They are often used for dealing with acne -- the more is better approach -- but over-drying the skin often leads to increased oil production, creating a vicious circle of events for teenagers.

An astringent and a toner are basically the same thing. Most toners have an astringent built into them. The products are used after cleansing, to remove any residue or dirt/oil that was left after washing. The MOST important thing that an astringent/toner should do is to return your skin to it's normal pH level. Unfortunately, many of them do not do this. You didn't state your age or your skin type, but I would be happy to suggest some products that would work for you.

I have used both astringent and a toner. I have the toner to reduce the size of my poors and the astringent cleans my face. But astringent is mainly for oily skin and to clean ur face. And the toner is to reduce pores and clean ur face. I'm not a dematologist or anything but that is all just from my experience. If you have really sensitive skin becareful with the astringent.
