You should try:
"From the Dust Returned"
by Ray Bradbury
It's not the same story, but similar in a sense. If you liked Nightmare before Christmas, try this book it's a very interesting read.

All that I know of is a pop-up book published by Tim Burton... I have never seen or heard of another one. Sorry, but good luck searching...
