I have just done what you asked. I just stuck the XP CD in the disc drive & let it run over the top of ME. Works fine.
ps 2 gig is rather too small for your hard drive. Also make sure you have at least 256MB ram preferably 512MB.
XP is a "heavy" peogram. I had 128MB Ram when I 1st installed XP...my comuter couldnt really cope with anything I did on it. I now have 512 MB ..works fine.

If you mean 2gig processor, you're fine. Just put the XP disk in the drive and it will tell you what to do. If you mean 2gig drive, you're probably better off getting a new PC with it pre-installed, as many have said.

I agree with other posters, your hard drive is far too small to comfortably install Windows XP. You should buy a larger one.
You then have to consider whether you wish to upgrade ME or do a fresh install of Windows XP.
The advantage of upgrading is that you will be able to keep the settings that you currently have, and the upgrade version of Windows XP is cheaper than the full version. Having said that, however, you also carry across any redundant files, spyware, malware, viruses, etc. that currently exist on your hard drive.
My advice would be to purchase a larger hard drive and the full version of Windows XP and install that.
One thing to consider with doing this is that you will have to reinstall all the software that you currently use. You do have the CDs, don't you?
Best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

2 Gigs if your HDD space, its far too less. You'll need to upgrade your HDD to atleast 20 Gigs and Min of 512 MB RAM for best performance.
Need to backup your data and allow XP to do a clean install which will wipe off all your existing data.
If you wanna keep both, then partition the hard drive and install XP on a seperate hard drive parition.

If you have XP cd, and strat installation, You will see options to upgrade or to new installation. If you select update, all data , settings, and other programs on your computer remain, with XP.
Whereas if you do not see an Update option, or you choose to get a new installation, You can either format the hard disk and new install, or you can do a dual boot install if you have enough space on your hard disk.

Would be cheaper to buy a new pc. By the time you went and bought WinXP and a new hard drive to put it on, Easier and cheaper to get a new one with it already installed. Go look at a E-Machine. I own 2 at this time and love them
