the andromeda syndrome is a hallucinating effect on the pixel of the eyes. it will focuss on about just a small portion of the pixels of the eyes. the pot syndrome is an andromeda syndrome. it would usually colored deepened your pixels. mathematically, out of 100,000 pixels of the eyes would intensify the colors of 2% of that 100,000 pixels. that is soft drugs(pots, haschisch) hard drugs will comatise your pixels and as if they had been shot down, like a light bulb. On and Off. the milky way is a drunken out of equilibria and you have the sensation that you can float, you are very much lighted in weight, you would feel that you have a soul and it is hovering into mid-air. you would love to be drug-drunk all the time. you need to see a doctor, you have probably a mental schizophrenia or neurotic out of this world, end the world, let's go to heaven, back to space and to new civilizations. that the milky way syndrome.

Galaxies collide on a regular basis throughout the universe. Do a Google search of photos of "colliding galaxies" and you should find several. It is only at large distances that cosmic expansion overtakes gravitational attraction.

No particular reason. They just happen to be moving that way in the local group of galaxies.

BUT - if you look "outside the box" at "groups of groups" of galaxies farther and farther away, you'll start to see a net expansion.

It's just that here in the local group, the unversal expansion isn't great enough to counteract the motion of our two galaxies towards each other.
