Its good that I land up on this question. Lemme answer this first as I am also an Electronics and Communication engineer.
In my opinion , scope of E&C engineering will be evergreen , in fact its more as compared to comp science.
Cuz after finishing you have wide fileds to choose from. For example.
1) Programming( C, Java , .Net etc)
2) Embedded Programming.
2) Hardware
3) Communication
3) Networking
4) VLSI
I dont think any other branch gives u so many of options.
I passed out in 2000 and I am into Networking field.
