Haven't heard of an MR3 before. Perhaps you mean either an MR2 or even the Mk3 as in the Mark Generation III Supra?
Anyways, reguardless of vehicle, if it's been sitting for years you need to drain the fuel and replace it with new fuel. That's the first thing that should be done. Then make sure you getting fuel to the engine by checking all fuel feed and return lines. But my guess is it's bad fuel.

Bad feul and probably gummed up fuel injectors. if changing the feul deosn't help,, ( it does need to be changed, they sell feul stabalizer at auto stores' but my geuss is that none was used), replace the feul filter,, wait for awhile after a start attempt to let the pressure go back to zero before you do,, it could be gummed up. If that doesn't do it,, remove or have removed the fuel injectors and have them cleaned. Might not be a bad idea to squirt a "little" motor oil into the combustion chambers too, and crank it over a few times before trying to start it. fuel injectors.

I agree with yazukka, the fuel is definately bad, it needs to be drained and possibly the fuel tank cleaned. It certainly will not burn after sitting that long. Make sure you change the oil also, it has deteriorated over the years.
