It's a game of strategy, nothing to do with Monopoly by the way, check out the links from the BBC Radio 4 website...

You don't. That's the whole joke. There are no rules at all, and the game just doesn't exist. It was 'created' by comedian, author and director Graeme Garden for the radio programme "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue". The game is supposed to be similar to chess where you try to stop your opponent moving his counter along a map of the London Underground to Mornington Crescent, but in reality the "game" is simply two people reading out the names of London Underground stations until one claims victory as he arrives at Mornington Crescent, and the loser effusively congratulates him on his brilliant play.

The only game which involves Mornington Crescent, I think is Monopoly.

Go to the bbc website www.bbc.co.uk/radio4 and under message boards you will find the latest Mornington Crescent threads.

It isn't simply reading out the station names anymore, but the joke is still that there are no rules.

Basically you rabbit on about nothing in particular and then end it by fitting the words M'ton Cres at the end. Probably best left to the paid comedians on the Beeb!
