The only known info is a book called Unsolved Murders by George Bragg and in it has utterly false information and uses pseudonyms instead of the real suspects for some unknown reason, one in particular is a man named "Simon Chapple" who supposedly was institutionalized in Dayton,OH in the later 60s but claims to have been in and out of institutions throughout Ohio,West Virginia, Oklahoma and Kentucky. He was diagnosed criminally insane and was connected with a brash of disappearances and murders throughout 4 states, in WV the most gruesome was the murder of a mentally ill 19 year old named Mike Leo Rogers who was hacked into 13 pieces and strewn across US Route 60 hillside. Any REAL information on this guy or the case itself would be appreciated as I have had zero luck finding anything out here.

I worked at the State Police Station in 1975 and was a distant cousin to Mike Rogers. It was not a green bag, but an actual duffle bag. I was cleaning in the bottom of the old police barracks one day and found the duffle bag and it had a tag on it that said Mike Rogers though the name on the duffle bag was a soldiers name I believe. That was the bag that had some of the body parts I am sure. We called him JW and he was slightly mentally ill. It was sad what happened to him because he was not a threat in any way. I was younger than him and grew up in Cleveland Ohio, but I heard the family talk about him a lot. One suspect for awhile was Kelly Notingham who lived out on Salem/Gatewood Road and had made some comments to JW one day that lead some to think he was involved, but I think that died down soon after

I grew up in WV in Oak Hill/Beckley area, and remember stories of the Butcher - if you go outside after dark The Butcher will get you eg. There was supposedly a green garbage bag on the start of Gauley Mountain filled with sawed body parts - the mid 60's. My sister went to college with George Bragg - I believe he is one of our uncles. I often wondered through the years if the crimes were ever solved.

I remember they said whoever committed the murders was familiar with dissection. I believe that was because the bodies were drained of blood and cleaned before being cut up. I was in service when this happened, but was from Oak Hill.
