The old saying goes, "Spring forward, fall back"

During the spring, the clock is moved forward so using Greenwich Meridian Time(GMT) as a unmoving standard, the east coast in the US changes from GMT-5 to GMT-4 and returns to GMT-5 during the fall.

That means we wake up an hour earlier when it is in effect and we get the hour back in the fall.

The same time you only think it's different because the clock is an hour earlier or later!
