Is 12 weeks too early to feel the "bubbles" in your stomach, when the baby moves? I have been having them constantly, like in the morning and night, but it's probably just gas or something huh? Has anyone felt them that early? Thanks!

I am an RN and 18 weeks pregnant. My OB specialist states that 18 weeks is really when the baby is typically large enough to be felt moving, although you can occassionally feel it sooner. 20 weeks or so is more usual, though. I did feel it myself earlier occassionally at about 15 weeks or so. Some women do feel the baby move sooner depending on their build, some as early as 13 weeks, in fact.

Mothers who have had more than one pregnancy tend to feel it sooner since they know what it feels like.

Congratulations, BTW. :)

Here is part of an article that discusses this:

First Fetal Movement : Quickening Some moms can feel their baby move as early as 13-16 weeks. These first fetal movements are called quickening and are often described as flutters. It may be difficult to determine whether this feeling is gas or your baby’s movements, but soon you will begin to notice a pattern. First-time moms may not feel these movements as early as second-time moms. Some moms, especially those in their first pregnancy, may not feel movement until 18-20 weeks. Remember that each woman and each pregnancy is different, so you may not feel movement as early as another woman. There is a broad range of when the first detection of movement can be felt, ranging from 13-25 weeks.

Congrats! Probably just gas but I do know 2 people who swear they have felt the baby flutters at 13 weeks. The earliest I felt mine was 15 weeks.

I didn't feel my daughter until i was like 25 weeks along. My doctor told me I was just having gas... that's probably your best guess.
