when you change ratios in many harleys you have to change the drive gear in the tranny also. i have a 05, it runs from the tranny not the front. so if you cluster changed the speed reading 40%, go to a good harley shop with your old gear and get on thats smaller or larger depending on which way it went higher or lower. it is the same for going to larger or smaller tires on many bikes, you then have to match the drive gear to the addition or subtraction

that doesnt make sence, does your speedo cable run off your front tire? follow the cable and see. If the drive for your speedo came from the trannie it would be off because of differant gear ratios.

If the gearing it that much different,,,you'll have to get your speedometer recalibrated
